The Evangelism Study Bible NKJV New King James Version

When I first received The Evangelism Study Bible in the mail, I had no idea where to begin or end in order to write a book review for Kregel. Thank goodness, I could see from the contents and other Bible aides that user friendly would be the perfect term to describe this Bible. I became very interested in reading this Bible and looking through it.  My knowledge about the term evangelism is almost nil. It is my desire to describe in a goodly manner the fine points of this Bible.

For one, there is a short, simple synopsis of the Bible books. These short plot outlines do not veer away from the subject evangelism. For example, one of the descriptions of Job is: "How to Witness to Suffering people(6:14-21). Under the subject of Job there are seven topics about evangelism. I had no idea the Book of Job could be used for witnessing. Another topic is: How To Witness In The Aftermath Of Tragedy." It's easy to see that the books are for everyday usage. These are subjects any person would want to turn and read immediately especially if they are witnessing to a friend, relative or an acquaintance. So, there are many, many topics for each Book of the Bible about evangelism.

There are also subjects blocked off in each book. For example, in the Book of Matthew,  one inset block is about Inviting People to a Relationship, Not to Regulations. The words here are very encouraging to a Babe in Christ. "Salvation is not about being good enough to be accepted by God. No one can meet that standard."  In Matthew again, this blocked off topic is about "Illustrations: Valuable Tools for Evangelism."

There are marginal aides and footnotes. In Jeremiah, there is one footnote about sin and not taking it lightly.  The word "weeping" in Jeremiah is a footnote. I can't believe so much is written just about "weeping." It's easy to understand too. Here is an example. "The issue here is not tears but sincere repentance....."

In the back of the Bible is a Glossary of Evangelism Terms. Here is a word I've seen but have no idea of the meaning: Apologetics. "the field of study devoted to the defense of the origin and teachings of Christianity." Isn't that a nice, concise definition?  Oh, there is a big concordance in the back of this Bible. With so many aides you would think the Bible would feel heavy to carry. Not so, I have carried it easily from one room to another room, and I'm one of those people who suffer with a lack of strength in my arms.

This Bible really is fun. It's like going on an adventure outing and coming back with pretty rocks to look at over and over again. This Bible would make a fine gift also.

By the way the cover is lovely. There is a fisherman's net and a quote from the Holy Bible. "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19.  It's a purpose statement before you all the time in one complete sentence.
Thank you to Kregel for the chance to review this Bible. http://www.evantell.org/bible/
