Friday 56

"We were both young and from England, and we had each married just before moving to Canada. Doreen's ethnicity was Czech, and her parents had escaped just prior to the Nazi occupation of their country. They had been put into an English refugee camp. Doreen was in utero when her parents arrived in England, and she was named for the woman who had masterminded their escape."

This isn't a genre I usually read but this sounds like an interesting book.
This sounds like a fascinating story with interesting characters, set in a turbulent era. I hope you're enjoying it.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my Friday post: MURDER ON ASTOR PLACE.

I like the excerpt and the cover. I'll definitely have to look for this one
Love the cover and excerpt. My mother grew up in England during WWII and came to the U.S. as a very young war bride, so this type of story resonates with me.

This era is turbulent. I've read fiction and non-fiction about these times. May have to try this.

I normally wouldn't pick a book such as this one up, but after reading the snippet I know I'd be missing out!

Happy weekend!
